As a parent this book hits hard. A new couple expecting a baby moves to a small town despite multiple warnings to not do it. As a mom-to-be Jordan wants to raise her kid in a small town in a house with a yard instead of a busy city. After moving in and having a baby boy Jordan goes to the grocery store and sees people looking at “the list” she is confused what it means and everyone tells her those 6 kids will die soon. She rushes home and tells her...

Playing Jenna

4.5 Stars I love a good K-mod book, I was pulled in right away with the murder scene at the opening of the book. Initially I thought "Monroe" was young but as she identified herself as in her 50's i was surprised, I didn't expect the main character to have DID- the book mentions its very common but it isn't. I wish there was more explanation about why she went to "Monroe" and why she was an older lady. When things started to come out and the characters were all identified I thought that...

The Arrangement

5 Stars—This was actually my second time reading this book. I read it a few years ago before I really knew who KMod was. I this book had always stick with me so I nominated it for my book club and was really excited to read it again. I love the different perspectives and even at the beginning it makes you question your own life, “would I ever do that?” A normal couple on the outside bit with dark secrets to hid. As the book keeps going there is twist after twist, the “ would I ever do that”...

Nine Pines

4 Stars This book started out confusing. There was two different narrators in completely different situations/ nothing related to each other. It seemed as though it was two different books in one. At the end it does all make sense. The only thing that bothered me in this book was the narrators seem to "freak out" when nothing serious was happening. I assume this is to make the book more dramatic in a shorter period of time but in normal life things probably wouldn't escalate like this.

The Stranger in the Woods

5 Stars - Another twisty thriller by Kiersten Modglin. I usually do not read novellas but I love this author so i thought I would try it out. The start of this book gave me vibes from "the purge" based on the time of year and what goes on in Crimson Falls during this time. The book had mystery trying to figure out who the "stranger" was, some love, loss and twists as murders unfold in the small town. It kept me engaged and I finished it quickly!

The retreat-Review

4.5 Stars I enjoyed this, it was a good tension building story, there was elements of mystery, loss, grieving, deceit, paranormal and who-dun-nit. A few friends said it was a slow read so I was fully prepared to have a hard time getting into it---but this wasn't the case! I found it easy to read and easy to get engaged in the story. A young girl and her parents move to the middle of no where Alaska in the 1970s. Knowing nothing about Alaska especially during this time period the author did a great job painting the picture of what things looked like.
