The Neighbor Lied

3 stars- The book is set in a nice neighborhood that Claire has moved in to after getting a random message from her sister that she hasn’t seen in years. Claire is personally on the run from someone but in this case she is running towards someone or something- she doesn’t know what until she enters the gates of the neighborhood. I think the author had a good story line- just the punctuation and repeating of short sentences about the main events made it harder for the story to flow. The neighborhood is not safe and people seem to disappear so Claire has to figure out who she can and cannot trust using clues left behind for her. I had a few questions in the ending wondering what happened to one of the characters, also what Claire is running from is briefly mentioned and I wanted more. from. I thought at one point the stories did intersect but then nothing was resolved- the ending seemed open to a sequel so hopefully there are some more answers. The character development is good, each character has unique attributes which makes the reader also wonder who to trust.
