Death Sentence

How far would you go to know the truth about what people think of you?

3.5 Stars - This book brings up a lot of feelings, unease, dread, grief, love. Ethan attends the funeral of his neighbor and sees everyone coming forward to say good things about the deceased when no one liked him when he was alive. Walking home he begins to wonder why people don’t tell the truth before it is to late. He talks to another neighbor about this – Janet who has also noticed this same thing. Ethan then has the idea of creating a lie with only Janet knowing the truth. In the end this lie takes on a life of its own, growing and growing leading to ruined lives and relationships and in the end, you wonder- was it worth it? This book made me think a lot about the concept of death/dying/final words and thoughts. Death is something that people do not talk about or discuss but it will happen to everyone either controlled or uncontrolled. I have enjoyed other works by this author so I was excited to see a new release.
