Never Leave

4.5 Stars--Sophie moves to the big city of Toronto after leaving her sad previous life behind.  She lost her mom and grandpa and for years helped take care of her sister while knowing there was more to life.

Sophie works at a university library as an Archivist, she is the quieter type, still struggling with money like she was back home before college.  She is friends with her co-workers and enjoys her job.  Suddenly a well-known professor has been around looking for a folder that got “mis-filled” -this folder was created prior to digitalization of files.  Sophie is interested to see what is in this folder, but the professor ends up dead before Sophie can look for it for her.  An intern also reaches out to Sophie about the folder, and he ends up dead as well.  Interestingly enough both murder victims have had close contact with Sophie right before their deaths- this puts her in the center of a police investigation. In this book it goes back and forth between Sophie’s past and her present.  Reading this I knew that her past had shaped her, but I was intrigued to see what the past was leading up to.  The past and present come together very nicely at the end, finding out what was in the secretive folder as well as who was behind the murders.

This book was easy to read and fit my style of reading; I never had to force myself to keep reading. I am unsure why Sophie was in target for the murders and thought it had something to do with her past but it was never cleared up.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced review copy of this book-and will look into more of this author's books.
